With A Little Help From Some Friends

From day one of my daughter's autism diagnosis, it was obvious that going at it alone was not an option. Help from outside our own family structure was needed. The biggest hurdle was figuring out where that help was going to come from. My daughter started her school life in a special ed school. Though her stay there was a very short 2 years (She transferred to an inclusion setting in a general ed class.), that school had numerous after-school meetings intended to provide parents with information as to where we could turn to for the help that was so necessary. It was at one of these meetings that the agency QSAC was mentioned. The process of getting services from QSAC was not easy and was filled with a lot of paperwork. But all that effort was well worth it. Through QSAC,  my daughter got a case manager, a behavior evaluator and resthab services that all proved crucial in her development. The scope of assistance from QSAC ran the gamut from daily living skills, behavior modification, help with academics, social skills development and whatever else my daughter needed. Would she be a senior in a performing arts high school without their help? Absolutely without a doubt, no. So to all parents like ourselves, this journey is so much better with a little help from some "friends".
